Welcome to the Snow Dragons of Minneapolis!

We are a competitive cross-country ski team (ski for sport) for students in grades 4-9 living or attending a school in Minneapolis! Kids must be 10 years old.

About
Cross-country ski racing is an exhilarating and exciting sport, but it is also challenging both technically and organizationally. Skiers joining Snow Dragons should have at least one season of on-snow experience. Families committing to the team will need to be ready to work together. If this is not the right program for you the MYSL's SkiSparks is a great program for beginners.

Requirements

  • At least one season of cross country ski experience either classic of skate.
  • Be able to move and glide with fluidity in the classic technique
  • Be able to stay outside in sub-freezing temperatures for about 1 hr.
  • 10-14 years old. (9 Years old will be able to register if they have an older sibling in the program.)
  • If these requirements are not met please contact the head coach for advise.

    Administration and Fees
This team is being offered through the Skiwerx program of the Minnesota Youth Ski League. The fee includes a racing license, race entries, coaching, as well as waxing support and some special visits entries. The Snow Dragons fee is already very economical compared to other programs (about half). Additional financial aid is available with proof of need and parent commitment and volunteering is needed.

    Gear
High-quality racing equipment that fits the skier is essential to a good racing experience. Equipment for both classic and skating is required. Rental of all necessary equipment for the year is available. Rental equipment is only available for skiers with shoe size under 42 EU and weight under 110 lbs. Larger skiers will have to provide their own equipment.  The great rental fee is $200 paid directly to MYXC. Gear Pick up will be on 2024.

We also recommend keeping an eye on used gear on marketplaces and/or ski swaps. The 2024 ski swaps occur on the 3rd weekend in November across the Twin Cities.
