Cregg Highlights
Nearly 30 years ago, Wendy Cregg helped start the Giants Ridge MYSL club so her young son, Andrew, could experience the joy of cross-country skiing. She never imagined that decades later they'd be coaching side by side, watching Andrew's own children, Jack and Olivia, discover that same love of winter.
Today, three generations of the Cregg family are part of MyXC.
What keeps them coming back isn't just skiing—it's the memories they create together.
Family adventures through snowy woods. Kids laughing on the trails. Coaching alongside lifelong friends. Watching young skiers grow into confident teenagers, then seeing those same kids return as volunteers and parents themselves.
As Wendy puts it:
"When you share a passion with someone, and it becomes their passion, you've given them an incredible gift that keeps on giving."
For Andrew, coaching has become about much more than teaching skiing.
"It's seeing all the kids light up while they're outside having fun, no matter what Minnesota weather brings. Watching them gain confidence, learn new skills, and simply enjoy being together—that's the reward."
The Creggs believe skiing teaches much more than technique. It builds resilience, confidence, healthy habits, and an appreciation for the outdoors that lasts a lifetime.
Their family has always embraced a favorite Norwegian saying:
"There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes."
For them, winter isn't something to get through—it's something to celebrate.
They also believe MyXC succeeds because it's powered by volunteers who simply want to share something they love.
"Helping kids experience skiing and confidence that they'll carry their whole lives is incredibly rewarding."
Thirty years after Wendy first introduced her family to MyXC, they're still creating memories—only now they're helping hundreds of other families create their own.
That's the power of community.
That's the power of volunteering.
That's the joy of embracing winter.
