Finding Joy Outdoors Together

For Tim Dietz, skiing has never been about racing.

It's about spending time with family, finding peace in nature, and helping kids discover that winter can be something to look forward to.

"I love this sport because it's something I can do with my kids."

As both a coach and equipment manager at Elm Creek, Tim has spent more than six seasons helping families get outside, stay active, and embrace Minnesota winters.

One of his favorite parts of volunteering isn't a single memorable moment.

It's seeing kids come back year after year.

"I love seeing kids return knowing they had such a great time the year before. It's great to see kids having fun."

Tim believes skiing is one of the few sports that truly lasts a lifetime.

Whether you're six or sixty, it's about getting outside, moving your body, and enjoying the journey.

His own love of the outdoors started with his parents and grandparents through camping, hiking, biking, and skiing.

Now he's passing that same appreciation on to his children—and to hundreds of MyXC families.

"It brings people together during some of the toughest months of the year and keeps kids and adults active."

When someone asks if they should volunteer, Tim's answer is simple:

"Just do it."

"You don't need fancy gear. If you have a great attitude, that's all you need."

For Tim, embracing winter is slowing down enough to ski through quiet woods during a snowfall, listening to the silence, and appreciating the beauty that surrounds us.

Because winter isn't something to endure.

It's something to experience together.
