From MyXC Skier to MyXC Coach

When Claudia King first joined MyXC at 13 years old, she had never cross-country skied before.
"My first year was rocky," she admits.
But she came back.
During her second season, something changed. Encouraged by her MyXC coaches, Claudia discovered not only a love for skiing but a confidence that carried her far beyond the trails.
She eventually joined her high school Nordic team, became a junior coach, and today—while attending nursing school—continues to volunteer with MyXC, helping the next generation of skiers find the same joy she did.
"MyXC is the reason I ski at all today."
For Claudia, coaching isn't just about teaching technique.
It's about building relationships.
"Learning how kids learn, what they struggle with, and what they enjoy about skiing helps me become a better coach."
One of her favorite memories is hosting an Olympic-themed practice filled with games, laughter, and movement.
Those moments remind her that skiing should always be joyful.
She hopes every child who joins MyXC discovers what she found years ago: confidence, community, and a lifelong love of being outdoors.
"The people who inspired me changed my life," Claudia says. "Now I hope to inspire kids and their parents to stay the course with Nordic skiing and discover the joy of moving outside in winter."
For Claudia, embracing winter means looking forward to the first snowfall because it means another season of skiing alongside friends, families, and young athletes just beginning their own journeys.
Her story is proof that one encouraging coach can change the trajectory of a child's life.
And now, she's doing exactly that for someone else.
