Session Timing
Lessons run for 8 weeks and will start on January 6th, 2024 and end up February 24th, 2024.

***** Due to the XC World Cup on February 17th there is a chance we may cancel lessons and end on March 2nd.  This will largely depend on club input and how the winter snow situation is looking. *****

All levels will begin at 10:00am. Level 1 and 2 kids will ski about an hour. Levels 3, 4, 5, & 6 will be out skiing for about an hour and a half. Please make sure your kids are dressed appropriately for the weather and to be outside for this duration.

Registration
Open registration will open at 9AM on October 25th.

Hiawatha Golf Course Ski Path Etiquette

The folks who groom the trails at Hiawatha work really hard to maintain our beautiful course. We need to do our part to respect the trials. Only skiers should be on the groomed ski trails. There is a hiking path on the inside of the trail for walkers. Sweepers and coaches who are not on skis are fine to walk with their groups, but they should do their best to stay on the hiking path.

*Equipment Rentals
Classic and skate ski packages are available for rental.  Rentals are usually picked up in early December and skiers keep their rentals through the whole season.  We do not have enough rentals for everyone so if you need a rental make sure you sign up early.  All rentals will be taken.  Want to be assured of a rental?  Volunteer!

*Ski Passes
Make sure you've purchased any necessary passes prior to our first session. All ski passes can be purchased through the Loppet Foundation.

No pass needed
Youth skiers (11 and under)
Adult volunteers who will not be on skis

Purchase a NATURAL SNOW PASS
Skiers (12 and over)
Adult skiing volunteers

Purchase an ALL-ACCESS PASS
All skiers (youth and adult) who plan to ski on snowmaking/lighted trails at Theodore Wirth Park.

Inclement Weather

We will notify you Wednesday evening if we are considering canceling a session due to weather, and email you a final decision by Friday evening.

Health & Wellness
Please do your best to help keep everyone in our club healthy and safe this winter.
If your skier is feeling unwell, do not attend ski club.
If your skier is currently under quarantine, do not attend ski club.

Bathrooms at Haiwatha
Please make sure all skiers have used the bathroom before ski club begins. We expect to have access to the clubhouse restrooms but it is always easier for kids and coaches if this has been taken care of before you arrive at Hiawatha.

Volunteering
The entire club-level Hiawatha SkiSparks program is run by volunteers.  We have great volunteers who have been with us for years but there's always turnover so we always need new people to step up and help out.  Most volunteer positions only require a commitment of time on Saturday mornings and an desire to get kids excited about skiing.  Some ski skill is useful but for the areas we typically need the most assistance it is not necessary to have strong ski skills.

One of the major perks of volunteering is access to early registration.  Of course you need to volunteer before open registration to access this!  Volunteering is the best and easiest way to make sure your skier(s) get registered and get ski rentals if you need them.  All leadership team members, coaches, assistant coaches, and level 4-6 sweepers get access to early registration.  Coaches and assistant coaches are guaranteed registration for their skiers and rental equipment if they need it.
